With many workers furloughed or struck off altogether during lockdown, making money has never been more important. That said, it’s also never been more important to stay home, so how exactly can you continue making money during lockdown? Don’t worry – I have 5 easy ways to make money from your sofa; no face masks needed. Some of them might not be for you, and that’s okay!
Write Online For Cash
If you enjoy writing, why not get it out there in front of an audience? Technology has made it easier than ever before to write professionally, so have a brainstorm and pitch to the following publications – they’ll even pay you for your trouble, and you can do it all from home.
Back2college: a site aimed at older students which pays £45+ per article.
Loaded Landcapes: a photography website that pays £10-120 per article.
Longreads: a long-form content site that pays well. They don’t specify how much they pay but other websites have stated that they pay £450-£1,200.
Make sure you read the submission guidelines of each publication so you can be sure that you’re working efficiently and not wasting your time. They only pay for accepted articles, so make ’em good!
Sell Your Unwanted Items
There’s nothing like being stuck at home to make you realise how much clutter you have. Luckily, there are plenty of websites happy to take items off your hands and give you cash in return.
Ebay is a great place to sell anything from furniture and ornaments to old clothes and shoes.
Webuybooks will buy books, CDs, DVDs, and games. Rumour has it that if you tweet them and ask for a promo code (which will add a certain amount of free money to the amount you receive) they’ll just give you one!
Music Magpie will buy phones, laptops, CDs, DVDs, games, books, and even Lego.
Cex will buy phones, laptops, game consoles, smartwatches, tech, DVDs, and games.
Add a Gig to Fiverr
Fiverr is a website where, you guessed it, nearly everything sells for a fiver. You can sell anything, from relationship advice, to SEO expertise, to proofreading, to drawing… browse the categories and see what’s out there.
Become an Online Tutor
Schools are closed so is there really a better time to become an online tutor? If you’re good at something, pass on that expertise and help others. You could tutor children, but there’s a market for adult learning, too. Try a site like Skillshare, or you could even build your own website.
Rent Out Your Driveway
This is great for people who live in a city where parking is limited. Your driveway is a premium! Try JustPark and see how much you could earn.
